40 Hour Basic Training Program
For Maryland Court Certified Mediation

March 7 - 10, 2012, 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

This 40 Hour Training includes a comprehensive introduction to mediation practice theory, practice, and skills development as well as ethics and practice development considerations. Ceecee will provide an intensive, hands-on interactive, skills-based program that uses role-play simulation exercises in which every student participates as an observer, in role play and as a mediator during the course of the program. Graduates of prior trainings by Ceecee, have praised her programs for her effectiveness, comprehensive scope and practical approach to the mediation process. Graduates come away with useful information and practice and guides as to how to approach the development of a mediation practice.

Divorce Mediation Training

The Divorce Mediation training sessions include two 20-hour intensive mediation trainings focusing on “parenting and child access issues” and “property and financial issues”. Completion of a 40-hour civil mediation training program is required before participating in the divorce mediation training. These sessions combine lecture, demonstration, and interactive role play, with critiques of individual/group exercise. A review of Maryland family law including divorce, custody/visitation, parenting plans, child support and disposition of property is also covered.

Property and Financial Issues: March 29-30, 2012

In addition to an overview of the general principles of divorce mediation, including the budgeting session, and valuable practice tips, the following special topics will be covered:

  • Family Law in Maryland on Spousal Support
  • Divorce Financial Planning
  • Child Support and Property
  • Tax Consequences of Divorce
  • Understanding the Financial Statement
  • Elements of the Memorandum of Agreement
  • Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs)
  • Property Mediation
  • Business Valuation
  • Standards of Practice and Ethical Considerations

These sessions qualify, under MD Rules of Procedure 17-104 and 17-106, for forty (40) hours of mediation training as required for court designated mediators of civil disputes and disputes involving child access and marital property issues.

Parenting and Child Access Issues: April 12-13, 2012
